Sally Mair - Loving life

By Sallymair

By any other name - but not Boscobel

I don't think I'll ever know the name of this rose. It's the one which I bought as, and was labelled as, Boscobel, but sadly it isn't as David Austin have admitted. The poor thing is very pretty but doesn't have very much scent so its fated to be known as, "I don't know but it's not Boscobel though "! A replacement Boscobel is being sent out next month so I'm going to have both.

Thank you for your viewing suggestions yesterday, I'm not sure what direction we're going to go in yet, so any suggestions will still be welcome.
Wednesday today, we had a lazy morning, hooray I slept pretty well too. We were expecting Scottish Gas to do the annual service of fire and central heating between 12 and 6, and at 4.30 got a text to say they were on their way then nothing more and nobody turned up. I'm getting fed up of this. I wonder if they know the Hermes delivery guy from last week.
When I went on line it said "sorry we missed you" feathers were spat!!! Guess what, in spite of what their website says they are not available 8am to 8.30pm, in fact they are not available at 6.10pm. I looked into rebooking on the phone system and it offered mid November. Hopefully they'll call early tomorrow to rearrange and apologise..... I'm not holding my breath.... I shall be ready to phone them though.

While hanging around unable to go out, I got busy in the kitchen. I made a batch of oatcakes, a sausage casserole and stewed lots of plums. I cleaned the outside of the back door - it's one of the new composite doors and was looking a bit jaded after 10 years. I wiped it with a cloth which made little impression then I decided to give it a rub with WD40 which cleans many surprising things, and it has come up like new. I cleared out the cupboard where the hot water tank is too, so that's a lot easier to use now.

I popped round to the rectory for a chat about various things this afternoon (Colin waited at home for the missing gas man) and after dinner I popped round to Ali's briefly.

All in all, a successful day except for the one thing which we had planned to happen which didn't. Grrrrrr, wait till that phone rings! I know it's not the fault of the person on the phone, so I'll be nice to him /her, but I shall register my irritation especially since I noticed today just how much this (lack of) service contract is costing us.

Keep safe and well everybody, we really do need to take care now more than ever.

Steps today 10250
