Busy morning - 38 week midwife check and then back here in time for lunch before nursery. It didn't exactly go to plan but we made it to the appointment, where everything seemed fine, and then we made it to nursery, where I left Amelie happy. So that was the main thing!
In between we had an issue with duplo (specifically the tidying of duplo) which escalated into a row and ended up with me tidying the duplo and confiscating it forever until Amelie can show me that she is able to listen to me. The whole thing was not helped by my horribly hoarse voice leftover from my horrible cold/sinusitis, very frustrating!
Anyway as I said, she's off to nursery happy and that is the main thing. I had a chat with her key worker today and although she's quite shy and not very confident when talking to other children (a lot of them are older and very noisy and it isn't what she is used to) she seems happy there, has never been upset and there are lots of things she enjoys doing. She is also very confident and comfortable speaking to all of the staff. The key worker reminded me that she was one of the youngest and said I'd probably be amazed at the difference by this time next year. We will have a proper review in a few weeks and a chance to stay and play (although not if I've got a brand new baby...might send Chris!)
I had a feeling she wasn't 'herself' at nursery but I am not worried because she clearly enjoys herself and I'm sure once some of the older children have gone to school after the summer and some younger ones come in to join her, she will probably gain some confidence.
Feeling a little guilty about the row this morning/confiscation of the duplo, so we might watch a film together this afternoon after I have picked her up.
