Where are we?
Today we took a trip to Wiltshire to visit Lacock Abbey, a National Trust property.
The blip is a view of the cloisters at the Abbey. The Abbey was built in 1232. After the Dissolution of the Monasteries, in 1539 it became a country house. Its most famous occupant was William Henry Fox Talbot, the developer of the first negative photographic process. The extras are from the photographic exhibition at Lacock and the final shot is of the Abbey and the famous central oriel window (second from the left) which featured in Fox Talbot's first in-camera image.
The other reason for our visit was to remember the place which we moved to 53 years ago. I was appointed as a lecturer at the Lackham College. The college is still there as is our cottage and the local town of Chippenham. A nostalgic day in the sunshine.
