The is a place called "Riverhead" in Driffield
It is actually the end of a canal Officially named the "Driffield Navigation" in 1770 , It is 11 miles long and a great boon to Driffield, turning an inland market town into an inland port. It survived in commercial use despite the coming of the railway until 1951, and even today the navigation is still used by hundreds of pleasure boats as one of my earlier blips further down at Hempholme showed earlier this month
I sat there watching some beautiful rainbow trout swimming around in the crystal clear water, truly delightful
The Crane is from 1863 and manually powered, and another is at the distant end of the water way
