Little flying beastie

This was on the car door this afternoon. I put the photo onto the local Facebook insect forum and it has been identified as a parasitic wasp, one of the Ichneumon family.

It lays its eggs on its prey and the babies eat their way through it when they are born. Hmmm!   That's the ovipositor at its back end, not a sting, thankfully!
