It had been a really nice day

until the news of Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s passing this evening. She was the liberal Supreme Court justice who championed gender equality and held the line again encroaching conservatism.

This is a blow: everyone knew she had health issues but we all hoped that she’d outlive Trump’s tenure. He now has free rein to appoint another conservative judge — something his base really wants. Legal abortion and mariage equality are among the issues that will be in play. Bad times ahead....
