As I’m on this nostalgia trip, allow me to post a photo of what used to be known as Douglas Row - it’s something different nowadays. The fourth dormer window from the far end of the block of houses was where we stayed on the holidays that made such an impression on me. I used to lean out of that window when I should have been in bed, smelling the bog myrtle and the wood smoke and long to be off up the glen ...

A day spent taking friends to eat and then wander round Brodick ...And yes: my knees ain’t what they were and my eyes won’t stay open!
