Fallen Giant

This 'fallen treetop' is still in situ beside the Burnhervie-Inverurie road at Manar, more than a year after it was snapped off the bole by the gales of December 2011.

It looked especially dramatic this morning, the whiteness of the snow highlighting the depth of colour still present in the broken heartwood of the tree.
