Tin toys

These mechanical tin toys belonged to my Godmother and were purchased by her adoring father in 1920 something. Today we took them to a valuation day (think antiques roadshow) together with other stuff she left me. These two lovely chaps are of more interest than value but the auctioneer was thrilled to see them. The elephant "Jumbo" was a very popular model of the real live "Jumbo the elephant" of London zoo who died around 1935. Large things began to be described as "jumbo sized" prior to that big things were called "big" !
