Could I Give One?

Not the most attractive picture - looking rather like dissected organs; once slathered in honey and served up with goat’s brie however…. and all from our tree.
A day of doing not a lot - boat back to its mooring, much wrapping of presents of course, and no little amount of reading of the papers.
We’re being readied for a tightening of lockdown it appears. There’s a narrative that this is because idiots (for which read young working class people) aren’t respecting the rules. There’s another narrative of course which was known at the very start, which is that adherence to regulations will fray if the majority of the population (ie those under 45) realise they are more at risk of dying in a car crash than dying of covid. You can only appeal to not kill granny for a certain period of time. And then you start floating nonsense like adding a ten grand fine in for the unwashed if they don’t get it and they’re still not doing what they’re told to. As Tegnell said at the start in Sweden, in China the state can weld people’s doors shut. Controversial!
So, later, a film. She Dies Tomorrow. By Amy Seimetz, actor turned auteur. My word, the critics adored it (and her). Strangely, the punter’s ratings were diabolical (something we maybe ought to have checked before settling to watch it) - a clear warning sign. Yep, often there is a residual common sense in common people that is worth paying attention to. Controversial again!
