We’ve reached yet another milestone: surpassing 200,000 dead from COVID. All that winning....

Today an art installation went up in Washington DC: 20,000 flags by which to remember the 200,000 dead. Makes for a powerful sight — even in terms of the lower number of flags. This is the highest casualty number the US has ever suffered in its entire history and no one is blinking an eye. In fact the Prez is joking about it...

And today as well one of the four Republicans whose voice was needed to defeat a nomination of Trump’s to the Supreme Court announced he would play along with Trump. His nominee is apparently staunchly anti abortion and still believes wives are to be subordinate to their husbands.

This is all rightly depressing...
