Valentine Birds
Chaucer wrote over 630 years ago;
For this was Saint Valentine's day,
when every bird of every kind
comes to this place to choose his mate.
This lovely bright morning as I look out of the window I hear the beautiful calling of all kinds of birds and can see a pheasant proudly strutting in the field. Do they know it's Valentine's Day?
If a woman saw a robin flying overhead on Valentine's Day, it meant she would marry a sailor.
If she saw a sparrow, she would marry a poor man and be very happy.
If she saw a goldfinch, she would marry a rich person.
Today I have seen a robin and a sparrow flying overhead but no goldfinch. But I need not worry as I am very happy with my husband!
