Lambton...

…………………..Quay, Wellington, NZ

Taken using ICM (in camera movement) as we walked along what was the high water line in 1840. In 1855 the Waiarapa  earthquake caused land uplift and further reclamation has left this street some 250 metres from today’s shoreline.

It is named after John Lambton, 1st Earl of Durham, the first chairman of directors of the NZ Company (from Wikipedia)

Thank you for the comments, stars and hearts for yesterday’s blip of the Karori Tunnel. The engineer for the tunnel was one of NZ’s most prominent engineers, James Edward Fulton, born in Dunedin in 1854.
He also designed the well known Wellington Cable Car which travels between Lambton Quay up a steep incline to Kelburn.
