Sports Day 1965. Old photos
I've been sorting out old photos for awhile, and do not think I have posted this one previously.
It was taken at our Bacup and Rawtenstall Grammar School in Rossendale, 1965.
For some reason the powers that be thought I was reasonable at doing the 100 yds sprint and 4 x 100 yds sprint relay., so I was chosen to represent the House colours.. Ours were yellow and named Glen. The other were Brook,(blue),Forest (red) and Moor (green).
It reflected the Rossendale Valley terrain, although I've no idea why Forest was red. And indeed they were always the House to beat! Seeming to be good at everything!
I enjoyed my time there before going off to Teacher Training College, in September 1966.
And for something completely different, to reflect Silly Saturday this YouTube video is extremely topical, and very funny.
You need to be able to comprehend the Liverpool accent but I recommend it as an antidote to the daily briefings we have.
