Drainage

Water draining through the sand as the tide goes out can often leave a dendritic patern on the surface. The black grains are coal grains and being less dense than normal sand, sit on the top.

I tried zooming in for a close detail but it just looked very grainy and poor quality - not because of photographic grain, but just the intrinsic graininess of the sand.
