Figs

I haven't bought figs this summer, having waited to see if any on our own tree would escape the squirrels. Alas they haven't, as per previous posts. It's currently covered in stubbornly green, hard fruit: this is a late second flush of growth, after the first ones were nibbled and spat out in disgust. Most of the current fruit will have to be picked off, leaving only the smallest for next year's crop.

So these are from Turkey, via our local wholefoods cooperative shop. They were wonderful: juicy, sweet, perfect.
