Harvest Festival

Backblip

This wasn't supposed to be a backblip but I fell asleep in the middle of writing it! :-))

What a day, what a weekend! This morning we had our usual online worship, still with about 55 people. Then, this afternoon, we had our first big service in church, our Harvest Festival. Places were strictly limited to comply with COVID restrictions and needed to be booked in advance. It's not a nice feeling to have to do that but it is necessary at this time. There were 58 in church and we could easily have had a few more and still been very well spaced. About half of the congregation had not been able to attend online so this was their first coming together in the church community since March. It was an emotional time.

We managed the distribution of communion, guiding people through the new way and our choir, socially distanced, sang one anthem at the end of the service. It was also our Curate's first service here as a Deacon and the largest service he's seen here. A very significant day all round.

We also managed to make our harvest collection over the last few days, which was sorted into categories after the service. It will now be boxed ready for taking to local charities and food banks. This is part of the collection, we had fresh produce as well.
