Norwich has Risen

We really didn't know how many people would come for this magical, wonderful hour.

Around 1,000 women, girls, boys, men gathered to dance, reflect and think about why they were rising and what they would to in the campaign to end violence against women.

A full set of my photos can be seen here if you are on Facebook.

We did the campaign dance three times: once at the start, then in the middle, then at the end. In between we had Zumba, NIA, hip hop from some school children, a rousing blast of 'Fame!' and just after the middle of the event some belly dancers which was so beautiful and hypnotic. Somehow, the crowd formed a circle around them and started gently swaying. It kind of brought the sense of excitement down a little before the the leaping and whooping began again.

We asked people to write their thoughts on pieces of paper and then photographed them. Some with the people holding the sheets, some without. There's some pretty powerful stuff there.

It was also absolutely lovely to have fellow blipper Faerisigh at the event, taking photos. She is so talented and a really, really nice woman to boot.

And now it's time to get ready for choir practice. We've got a couple of gigs coming up as part of LGBT History Month. Thankfully I have tomorrow off work.
