Sue's Eye View

A very long story ...

Last week I heard squeaking from the waste land next door. Upon investigation I discovered 5 kittens approx 2-3 weeks old in a poorly way spread over a large area. One, in fact, was in a ditch with water! All were just opening their eyes and extremely small. I brought them all into our garden (it took hours to find them all) and placed them in a make shift pen in a sheltered area. It was now fingers crossed time their Mummy could hear their cries and come looking.

The Mummy does, in fact, come to our garden for food but is ferral.

Success, as that evening she found them, semi-settled and started feeding them. It was obvious they were poorly as they were sneezing, coughing and had sticky swollen eyes.

Regretfully 2 have died but on the positive side 3 have currently survived. If we'd left them in the waste land none would have survived!

This afternoon we're taking them to a local vet as we believe this little one (my photo) has bronchitis. A wonderful lady from Cat Protection Pollensa has helped me with syringes, saline, a pet carrier and a hot water bottle, that is warmed in the microwave, to help keep their body temperatures up.

Only time will tell if the remaining 3 survive but at least we've tried. We're also going to attempt (with the help of Cat Protection Pollensa) to get the Mummy spayed to stop her reproducing again but it'll be a struggle to catch her we know.

I'll keep you posted.
