The state forestry company, Cóillte has an interesting and mixed reception in Leitrim. The intensive planting of  Sikta Spruce and other non native species is creating a monoculture that is turning the landscape featureless and is also very unattractive to wildlife. And a lot of locals are not happy with being encroached with so much plantation.
