Remote Ushering
This would've been the 63rd Monterey Jazz Festival weekend, but, instead of going to the lovely Monterey Bay to see it (we've been ushering at the Festival for about 10 years), we sat on the couch and watched it on their YouTube channel. Before today's virtual concert, our mighty usher boss, Patie (top, middle), got some of the ushers together on Zoom. The virtual concert was, like everything else we've all been settling for this year, not nearly as good as being there in person, but pretty incredible just the same. Some performances were repeats from past festivals, some were live, or at least patched together in that Zoom way that is becoming so familiar. But it's been a double loss: couldn't be there in person, and couldn't be staying with Soozaday and MisterS either. They used an old photo of the arena before the crowds arrived (bottom, right) for their Zoom background.
