Laura's scrap book

When Laura announced that she would retire at the end of September 2020, she made absolutely it clear that she did not want anyone to organise a collection to buy her a present. She did not, however, ban me from secretly collecting photos, cards and other artefacts from members of our research group - nor from her former colleagues at her last university - to paste into a scrap book for her. I finished assembling the scrap book this morning, then popped it into the post this afternoon. The plan is that (I hope) Laura opens the parcel on her last official working day on 30th September. My blip shows some photographs of me with Laura, plus a card in which I have written how much her friendship of the past five years has meant to me.

Also today: I blogged, I made soup, I ran, I bought some winter bedding plants, I watered the garden (and will water the yarden as soon as I have posted this blip), and I made a yummy barley risotto for supper.

We have just discovered that Only connect is back on BBC2, so that's our evening entertainment sorted: this and last week's episodes of Only connect, and University challenge.

Exercise today: 5k run, walking (12,978 steps including run).
