Captain's Logbook

Parenting - it never ends.

Dear teenage son.

It was so nice to talk to you the other day and I'm glad you're having such a good time at University.

I do understand how difficult it is to stay in touch with all the lectures you have to attend and all the reading and essay writing you have to do.

Which makes us parents appreciate it all the more when you do find the time to phone to ask us to send you your new phone SIM card, your iPod you left in the car and your rubber duck that you left behind. And we are sure you would have phoned anyway even if you hadn't needed these things.

Of course we do understand how important it is for a student to have their quirky things like Mr Ducky with them.

Which brings me on to a quirky little thing that we sure you haven't forgotten about and are about to get round to doing as soon as lectures, reading and essays permit. We would really like you to send the forms back so that your younger brother can drive the car that your parents bought for you both.

I would be so grateful if you did so rapidly, whilst I still possess a few reserves of sanity. Lets say close of business Monday. I do hope this picture of your loving Mr Ducky helps jog your memory.

Your loving dad. xxx
