Diary of an Edinburgher

The people you meet on the bus...

Wandered along to Sloane Square this morning with the intention of going to the Saatchi Gallery. Wish we hadn't bothered. It's a fantastic building, but jings! The 'artwork' was, er, challenging.

After that disappointment, we hopped on to the number 11 bus to go to St Paul's and thence to the river. Only in our haste we hopped on the bus going to other direction - Fulham. Still, it was lovely to just sit and look out of the window for a while.

On the way back, who should arrive at the other top front seat but Joe and his pal Maxi. Maxi is a parrot. We had a great old chat the whole way. Maxi didn't say much, just 'HELLO!' every now then. He goes around, sitting on Joe's shoulder. And he never does his 'business' on the coat. They were just out for a wee jaunt.

We walked along the river and had a rest in a pub with huge windows looking out on the Shard. The light kept changing and I had to keep running out to take a photo. What a lovely building it is!

A wander over the Millenium Bridge to the Tate, but decided we'd seen enough modern art for a lifetime now, so we walked back over the bridge, hoping for lovely light on St Paul's, but that didn't eventuate.

Back on the number 11, and as we came to Westminster, the evening light on Big Ben was glorious, so we had to jump off the bus and hurry back to take photos.

A delicious meal at a newly discovered chain, and home to relax before our journey home tomorrow.

We have loved our time in London. I even saw someone famous! That chap who presents 'Click' on TV was on the tube. Not royalty, but he'll do. It's a fantastic place and I hope we can return soon.
