Eskdale looking Excellent

Big thanks to everyone for all the love shown to yesterday's view of Wast Water, taken just before the screes start.

One of those walks today where we kept finding ourselves stopping to simply stare. The views were spectacular for 360°

We climbed steeply out of Eskdale and ambled across Birker Fell before dropping even more steeply into Seathwaite for lunch.
Then we took a slightly more obtuse way back... And what a discovery. A real "how did I not know about this" kinda place. The Grassguards Native Woodland area and Dunnerdale Forest combined with a delightful steep rocky path along the upper Duddon River were simply magical. Again, not a soul seen, apart from one chap sat on a boulder by the river hoping to photograph kingfishers. I wish we'd had more time to linger.

The view as we dropped back into Eskdale, the majesty of the Scafell range, the vibrancy of the river valley and the preponderance of rocky bluffs is hard to beat in the UK.
Extra is the 'path' up to Fickle Crag which took some finding!
