The View from the Street.

News trickles in from neighbors, friends and total strangers. Our house seems to be  just about in the exact middle of of the area where homes were lost. Why it was spared we probably will never know. I know as I backed out of the driveway on Sunday night, I looked back at the flames cresting the hill and thought it would be the last sight of our house. But as Jim says, we will be making a huge donation to the Firefighters association this year for they clearly made a stand to protect our house.

Fire burned right up to the edge of the paving on four sides of the house Hoses and shovels are still strategically placed outside the back door. I've put a picture of the view from our bedroom door where just three days ago a fig laden tree grew. Now it is a stick in the ground. The fence is gone leaving a view to the neighbors' field. I've put one more picture in extras.

They let a few people walk in to their homes on Wildwood Trail yesterday  to walk through their houses but not stay. Jim walked from his house to ours and took these pictures. Today they are threatening to arrest any 'unauthorized personnel found in the area. There is another 'wind event' and reg flag alert for tomorrow. Perhaps when that has passed they will be able to get the power back on and lift the evacuation order....

I have been receiving messages of support from all over the world and I am grateful for all of them. Thank you.
