Heirloom

A photographically mediocre image but meaningful beyond the thousand words it's supposedly worth, at least to me.

The story my mother told is that when friends of her parents returned from a trip to Europe they brought this handcrafted decorative collar back as a present. When my mother passed twelve years ago at the age of 90, I had it mounted under archival glass to preserve and display it as a family memory.

Since then It has taken on a bit more meaning following the passing of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg. My mother, a staunchly liberal and independent woman would be pleased.
