Grinding my teeth over a stump grinder
Yesterday my leylandii hedge came down, to the delight of my neighbours who'd really had enough of it. This morning it was the arrival of the stump grinder. Unfortunately the tree surgeon had told the stump grinder man that his large grinder would go through my side gate. Nope. Instead of going back for his smaller stump grinder (he might have come a long distance I suppose) he asked permission to take the gate off its hinges in order to get his fearsome machine through. I said yes provided he could rehang the gate correctly. Gate not rehung correctly. I made it clear that my payment would be withheld until it was; so the tree surgeon and a mate returned this afternoon to sort things out. It's not precisely as before - probably the wood has moved in the intervening years - but it's snug and locks correctly. I shan't use that company again.
