A pod of three northern bottlenose whales have entered Gareloch from deep water, and attempts have been made yesterday to guide them out into the open sea again, but the attempts have so far failed.
Today we drove to Gareloch and with many other people watched the loch for signs of them. The weather was lovely and it was nice to sit out and keep an eye on the loch, and occasionally we were rewarded.
As there are naval exercises taking place over the weekend the authorities are worried about the effect of the sonar equipment on the animals.
