Last Morning in the Lakes
It wasn't quite the conditions of earlier in the week, but it was still misty across the lake. What was more there was colour in the sky to the east. I saw another photographer as I was walking along the lakeside footpath and gave home a cheery 'good morning' only to get a very lacklustre 'hi' in return, so I moved on.
The difficulty was getting some foreground interest, when the sky coloured up just before the sunrise. In the end I spent over 3 hours out before breakfast, enjoying the changing conditions and mirror smooth water. I even came across a roe deer buck in the river between Grasmere and Rydal Water.
Then it was time to vacate the hotel and wend our way home. We did stop off at Windermere, walking up to Orrest Head for the view that so captivated Alfred Wainwright when he fist visited the Lakes, before popping in to the Lakeland store. Then the drive home.
