A Day In The Life

Gobble, Gobble

My eagle-eyed Mrs.P was overtly animated at the back door early this morning, waving her arms to get my attention. I was half-awake pre-coffee. I meandered towards the door, slower than she’d probably like because her hands were moving faster than my feet. What could possibly have her so excited? Deer in the yard, maybe there’s a woodchuck in the garden, or perhaps the neighbors across the street were highly entertaining? She was yelling in her most whispered voice “Hurry, hurry, get over here!” Finally, I peeked around the curtain through the glass door to discover what was causing all the ruckus in the house: six wild turkeys were meandering around our back yard! It’s been two years since we’ve seen one • Of course I did the turkey trot down the stairs to grab my camera, hoping they wouldn’t leave until after I got off a few shots. I’m happy to report their complete cooperation. After foraging in the grass and leaves for a few more minutes they disappeared in to our neighbor’s yard • After all that excitement I meandered downstairs for the second time to make coffee, then fed the kitties, and scattered peanuts and seed outside for the first-come, first-served. It was then I turned on my phone to more excitement: the President and First Lady’s positive covid tests. All I can say is “How Ironic” • Wear your mask, Social Distance, and Wash Your Hands, Please!
