Long Shadows

The Free Dictionary gave me a hand with the sentences; I just changed some of the nouns:
It was a time of covid and social unrest, but the administration still cast a long shadow over life in America.
or:
Social Networking has cast a long shadow over almost every family in the country.
or, in 2022:
Repubs: We know we made a mistake, but that happened years ago. Why are we still talking about it?
Dems: Because old sins cast a long shadow.
