Life on the Canal

A friend of ours finally managed to come up to see us for the day and we went out for Sunday lunch. It was so nice to see him and take him to a very secure restaurant by the canal. The picture is through the window where we were sitting.
It’s been pouring with rain all night and day and the canal water is over the bank in one place where the level is so high. The Geese were out in force patrolling up and down. We saw a Grebe catch a big fish and gobble it down. I was too slow to get a picture of it. Great so see fish are thriving in the canal water. Not so great to see the Duck Weed and all the tin cans and plastic bottles and other rubbish resting on the top of it!!
