Nicky and her Nikon

Rain and more rain

It has been raining non stop since last night. This morning it was raining so much that I doubted Xena would want to go for a walk, but Gavin took her all the same, while I stayed home. She was reluctant to get out the car but once there had a grand time playing with other dogs in the enormous puddles. This is the river in the village which has burst it banks - by tomorrow morning the water will be lapping on to the road causing the traffic to slow down.

I should have been flying out to Seville tomorrow with our camera group for a few days of photography, but that is just another thing that has been cancelled due to the Coronavirus.  I feel as if I have lost 6 months of my life and it is now getting so boring. Gavin says people at work are getting zoom fatigue and getting tired of trying to work in the current conditions, everyone is feeling much more stressed and they don't even have holidays to look forward to. There have been some positive things about the lockdown, the main one being the unexpected period of time we spent together living as a family unit again when the boys all came home, we have not done that for such a extended period of time for many years now.

I feel particularly sorry for the young people who have not been able to socialise at a time in their lives when socialising is such an important part of their lives. Tommy returns to university tomorrow and is not really looking forward to it as it will be in such strange times with such restrictive conditions. He is looking forward to getting back to hard work again, it has been such a long break for the students. He should have gone back this weekend but they have been given staggered time slots of when they are allowed to return, and his is tomorrow morning.

So in the spirit of trying to get on with life now regardless of the virus, I have planned to go to London this week for a few hours of photography. Last year I used to go to London about twice a week, and now I realised I have not been once this year! Things now have to move on.
