Daddy Long Legs Spider

This ran across the floor and under the table so the only way to examine or identify it was to put it in a jar, which explains any distortion.

Such a speedy beast is termed a 'Racing Spider' in our household but a more accurate name seems to be Daddy Long Legs Spider, Pholcus phalangioides. 

Being an arachnid, it is not related to the Daddy Long Legs, or Crane fly, which is an insect.

It is now released into the garden.
