Tooth, Fang and Claw

Evening all.

I'd forgotten about this photo but i was wiping stuff off my sd cards and realised it filled a gap.

This is the resident bear that now occupies the bear pit in the Botanical Gardens at Sheffield.

There really were a pair of bears that resided in the bear pit up until the 1870s when a boy fell into the pit and presumably was snapped up, so to speak, which may have gone down well with the bears, but not the public at large.

I can't find any contemporary accounts about the incident on the internet but i'll have a scratch around and see what i can unearth....

Look, c'mon, it could've been worse i could've gone with the pun about having a bear behind!
