Organic

You don't often see such a bad looking field around us but it really pleased me! It's a field that an organic farmer & seemingly one with old machinery & possibly wonky eyesight has sown with maize/corn.

The field had been grass and instead of spraying it with something like RoundUp as most people would do, he simply ploughed it & allowed the grass to die off in the very dry weeks we had a month or so ago. Then seed sown somewhat erratically & seems some rows not doing as well as others. With hindsight, I can report that it all grew pretty well but was not as lush green & tall as the stuff that had been sprayed & chemically fertilised and what I particularly noted was that on harvesting quite a bit was not collected up by the machines. Not sure though what machinery was used - it could be he used an ancient harvester as well!
