Field Barns
Early start today to catch the 7.16 train from Ribblehead to Horton to give me a go at running part of the 3 Peaks Route. A pull up to Pen Y gent was a bit tricky with plenty snow and icy bits still left me 10 mins down on target pace at the top, similar problems on the initial descent but made it all up on the drag up to Ribblehead, so a happy boy. Apart from cloud clinging to the top of Pen Y Gent the morning sun and blue skies were a great first morning of a few days holiday.
Called in at Hawes for a full English as a reward, any health benefit from the run was obliterated by the food fished out of the lard. I was fixed with such a gaze by the proprietor when she brought it to my table I felt like she'd phone my mum and tell her if I didn't eat it all and lick the plate. (Any professional or armateur psychoanalysts don't even think of commenting on that last sentence).
Just finished driving through the Dales on route to Durham to gather up mum, daughter sister and niece to spoil them all with a meal out in Newcastle before heading home tonight. In the absence of a zip programme for time I need to tune out the rushing about urge and treasure the moments.
blipped are some Dales Barns, I love these buildings, estimates vary from 4000 to 6000 of these in the national Park area alone, they were mostly built 1750 to 1850 to provide in wintering for cattle and sometimes sheep, these are in upper Ribblesdale towards the end of my run
