The day before
The most relaxing thing I did today was swim at 9.30, in water that was really chilly, well relatively chilly, probably after yesterday's heavy rain and the temperature drop.
The rest of the day has been, interesting.
Started off going to Publika with Wen Xin to buy the fizz (how much? don't know - ended up with 2 doz bottles of Prosecco) and food for tomorrow morning. Later I wished I'd had some of it with me. Then to the hotel with fizz, whisky, brandy and the cakes. There is no bar at weddings here, all alcohol is taken in by the family. There will be no wine after the wine at the dinner.
Then to the church where we had a really good rehearsal. #3 son and gf had stayed home just in case the groom's sword, currently in Customs, was delivered. It wasn't.
After the rehearsal the groom and Wen Xin and I went to get the flowers, which weren't ready, of course (yesterday being Valentine's) and once they were ready the GPS took us on a circular tour of KL back to the church. This being Friday afternoon and around 5 the traffic was a nightmare. Luckily I had a bun and a Chinese sausage in Chinatown while we were awaiting the flowers. My first food since 10.30.
The church was decorated pretty quickly but I'm not at all sure the flowers on the pew ends will survive till tomorrow, but there was no going home yet. The bride's parents had decided the wedding car had to be decorated not with just a white ribbon but traditionally, with flowers. That meant the groom and I sitting on the steps of the church waiting for the friend and car to arrive. He has suspected dengue! It was after 6 when we left the church and got seriously stuck in traffic after taking a left when it should have been a right. Another circle round central KL. But we made it back to the florist's and the car was duly decorated. And very pretty it looks, although the gerbera probably won't last the night.
Pizza was bought on the way home and then it was sorting kilts, making buttonholes, ironing shirts and getting all the clothes ready for tomorrow. It's hot, we're tired and we leave at 7 am tomorrow for the gatecrashing games and the tea ceremony.
But the groom's speech is lovely - very romantic, my boy!
