Permission to mingle
The two new hens - brown Warrens, swapped for some redundant flue pipes - have been isolated for a few days to give them and the incumbents a chance to get used to each other. Released this morning they rapidly sororized * over shared breakfast and at the end of the day perched for the night together in the hen house.
Warrens are working class girls who shell out the eggs in battery farms. The pedigree Burfords would be superior types from the Cotswold home of green wellies and headscarfs (think Princess Anne).
But they're sisters under the plumage and have no choice but to muck in together against the common threat known as FOX.
*Sororize: To associate as sisters; be in communion or sympathy as sisters.
