Forde Abbey
After we'd dropped Sophie off at school, we treated ourselves to a quick breakfast out then headed for Forde Abbey, near Chard, for a stroll around the gardens. The Abbey, which was founded in the 12th century, has been a private house since the 1750s. The house is closed to visitors in the current situation but the gardens are still beautiful, with lots of Autumn colour.
The fountain here in the Mermaid Pond, with one wing of the Abbeyin the background, put on a spectacular display at noon and I managed to catch a bit of a 'rainbow' at its base when the sun came out momentarily.
