May
It was my great aunt’s funeral today. I wasn’t sure what to expect, particularly after seeing the footage of a funeral in Milton Keynes this week where family members were ordered to move apart but I was pleasantly surprised that the chairs were still next to each other in rows and we were allowed to sing. Apart from the mask wearing and limited numbers, it was like a normal funeral. May’s granddaughter read the eulogy which was a lovely summary of her life , interesting stories and funny memories. She always had an excellent sense of humour and would have us in fits of laughter with her hilarious one liners.
As there was no wake, mum, dad, D and I came back to Linton and had lunch at the Dog and Duck. It was nice to raise a glass in May’s memory, to a long life, well lived.
