Fly

These are two of the coolest books I own. They both teach you how to fly and were written by Assen Jordanoff.
Flying and how to do it was his first book, published in 1932. Your Wings was his second (My edition is from '42).
The topics covered include both civil aviation and basic military maneuvers. It even includes a section on parachuting. Throughout the books, Jordanoff uses awesome diagrams and cartoons to explain everything.
