They sell beautiful and healthy plants at Elford Walled Garden. Not many, just a small table with the crop of marrows, apples and things and a few little pots with cuttings. My two spectacular buddleia plants that have featured in some butterfly blips came from Elford.
A week ago, I bought a small pot of “living salad” as they call it in Waitrose. The flourishing plant, wild rocket, is supposed to be kept inside and cut for meals regularly.
They have not clearly met Furbie.
The wild rocket now has to take its chance outside as it’s slowly growing back.
This morning Furbie was making one of those odd noises that draw your immediate attention. She then heaved and there was saliva with leaves on the laminate.
The living leaves have been joined by the Waitrose Basil.
Please don’t worry about her. The vet says she’s healthy and I doubt if her stealing indicates a shortage of minerals or something. I suppose the plants make a change from the slippers - or the sofa.
