Curzon Street (Thursday 8th October 2020)

These leaves grow on a phone mast outside my neighbour's garden and are exactly what Autumn is about. I went into Calne for my 'flu jab and took this on the way back.
Flickr was down for most of yesterday so I was unable to do the preparations that would normally precede a Blip, in fact two attempts at uploads failed there, otherwise I would have posted this last night.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
The Shadows - Dance On! (recorded 21 November 1962, EMI Studio 2, Abbey Road)
R.I.P. Brian 'Licorice' Locking (22 November 1938, Bedworth - 8 October 2020, North Wales)
The Shadows were the biggest musical thing in my life as I turned into my teens. For me their earlier period when Jet Harris and Tony Meehan were in the band were when they were coolest, with tunes like Man Of Mystery and Mustang. Tony Meehan left and Brian Bennett was brought in as drummer, and then he introduced Brian Locking, who took over from Jet Harris, and they got progressively 'safer' with suits and co-ordinated dance steps, punning song titles and connections with the Mums and Dads favourite Cliff Richard, all credibility shredding events. Brian Bennett and Brian Locking had both been in Vince Taylor and the Playboys, and had played on the early rock and roll classic Brand New Cadillac in 1959.
Brian Locking was only with the Shadows for a year or so but did play on hits such as Dance On!, Atlantis (both recorded on the same day) and Foot Tapper before leaving to become a Jehovah's Witness.
It looks to me as if the bass guitarist in this clip is his successor John Rostill but as they are miming to the record it is definitely Brian Locking's bass guitar that you hear. The song was written and demoed by a trio called the Avons, presumably a support act on one of their package tours.
