Archers Monument

Forecast was rain so decided to walk in the woods where it was sheltered and quite pleasant. This little known stone was erected to the memory of a mid-Seventeenth century resident. Rose of Kilravock was having trouble with the reivers, who had stolen her cattle. Iain (John) shot the leader of the reivers. He was then followed back to his home and , as he was a smalll man (beag) was taken for a child. Having told the band his father was out, he climbed a tree where he kept his weaponry and shot each of his pursuers, earning him the gratitude of all locals.
