Ian's learning curve

Going to give Blipfoto a try again. This time it's all about a different style of photography; not just the the mechanics of taking a picture.

Shape, form, light, shadow.

Over the last few months I have concentrated on photographing sport. Specifically DH mountain biking. However, spring has sprung and its time for a change. Time to learn about shape, form, light and shadow. Time to understand what the camera can do. Objective - to try and understand why some photographs look full of life whilst others are flat images on a page.

Over the next 6 to 12 months I fully intend buying new equipment (D90 looks good), off-camera flashes (a must for shooting sport in forests) and taking a slightly more considered approach to photography. In the meantime it's all about shape, form, light and shadow.

Constructive criticism welcome!
