Smile!
Clive Norris, Professor of Sociology at Sheffield University, calculated four years ago that there were "at least" 4,285,000 CCTV cameras in the UK - one for every 14 citizens. Norris also claimed that a person living and working in a major city could be caught on CCTV cameras 300 times in a day.
I don't know if they actually deter crime or are mainly used to help catch perpetrators after a crime is committed but I know I feel uneasy about that level of continual snooping. I think people would feel far safer with more high profile policing and yes that probably means the quaint old fashioned idea of more bobbies on the beat.
Anyway, in the meantime, smile because you are most likely on CCTV.
