Our Elm

‘Our Elm’ is directly opposite the front door so we can watch it change colour with the seasons. Right now it’s getting its autumn hues and, though not as impressive as the maples and oaks of this world, it’ll soon be at it’s golden best.
There was a touch of excitement in front of it this morning as traffic wardens started to load up parked cars onto their flatbed (no towing these days). I sent a quick message to the neighbours’ WhatsApp group and watched in merry wonder as folk came flying out their houses to move/retrieve their cars! Seems there was temporary No Parking in place to allow in a removal van - I hadn’t noticed the sign either - and the cones only went down last night.
Such is quarantine life - a little excitement goes a long way.
