A fun day at the A & P Show
Today was our annual A & P Show. It was a lovely fine day, not too hot and not too cold. There were lots of displays, and people selling their wares, and the usual amusement rides/games. This photo shows the ferris wheel in the background with a Tractor and lawn mower from the John Deere display.
We entered some of our cows in the show, along with our summer turnip crop. The Dam and Daughter (all breeds) that we entered came first place, while one of our Jersey cows came 4th in 'Best in Breed - Jersey'. Our Summer Turnip Crop came first in the 'Pasture - Summer Crop' competition.
Of the 8 photographs that I entered, one came first, three came second and two came third, so I'm happy with that.
Next year I will give it another go, but looking at other photo's entered today, I think I will enter larger photo's - from my observations, these photo's tended to do better.
It was interesting to see a film crew at the show this year from Country Calendar (a rural farming/agriculture TV programme). They had been filming a farm up the Maruia, and came to the show to see how well the farmer had done at the show. This programme will be on TV sometime in April/May.
